The mission of the Okmulgee County Safehouse –

is to provide crisis intervention services and a safe haven for survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and their children.  Through a 24/7 crisis line, the Safehouse assists survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking with crisis intervention. The Okmulgee County Safehouse will is a full shelter service center.  It is the philosophy of the Safehouse that survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault can be assisted through the use of advocacy.  Advocacy consists primarily of the process of education and encouragement.  It is a short-term, goal -oriented process.  The long- range goal of advocacy is prevention and the advocate works hard to link the survivor with extended support services.
